Monday Aug 12, 2019
Monday Aug 12, 2019
Welcome my fellow eCommerce Entrepreneurs - this show is for the Kurious about eCommerce and for those that want to get better at digital business.
In today's show, I get to chat with Sam Morgan who is the founder of Paria.cc which is a bespoke clothing brand that specialises in Bike Gear. Sam knows first hand the challenge of running an eCommerce clothing brand as he balances weather, fashion trends, brands and seasonal changes successfully.
We chat about all the different facets of this great online business including lead generation via the help of micro-influencers on social media, especially Instagram. Sam is able to partner with other individuals who fit the brand profile and in return for Paria kit, provide him with content and exposure to their followers and their peers. With heavy reliance on user-generated content (UGC) Sam is keeping imagery and content fresh and dynamic.
This is a great conversation with a guy who has been through many of the ups and downs of running an eCommerce business and Sam is both open and generous with the lessons he has learned.

Welcome my fellow eCommerce Entrepreneurs - this show is for the Kurious about eCommerce and for those that want to get better at digital business.
In today's show, I am going to look at the third and final part of our three-part series about finding great products to sell on your eCommerce website.
In the previous two shows, I talked about the benefits of choosing a niche, how to find a great niche and how you should want to curate the best products for your niche market (Episode 5). Last week we looked at how to curate the products and to research products for your eCommerce site (Episode 6).
In today's show, I talk about how Suppliers can make or break your eCommerce business. I also share a few stories from my own eCommerce journey about suppliers and how one particular supplier changed their terms of supply and it cost my beauty eCommerce business millions in lost sales (no exaggeration - literally millions!)
Here's a summary of the points from this show.
- Look at supplier values. Does the company you are looking to buy from have similar values to you? Long-term success is dependent on shared values.
- Understand Supplier Requirement. For example:
- Do you need a brick and mortar store?
- What is the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?
- Are there certain countries you cannot sell to?
- Be aware of price-fixing.
- Remember that they have a business to run too.
- Build a personable relationship with them.
- What else can they give you?
- Gift with purchase
- Marketing help
- Dropshipping services
- Other incentives
- Have regular reviews with your supplier

#6: Researching products to sell on your eCommerce website
Tuesday Jul 30, 2019

Welcome my fellow eCommerce Entrepreneurs - this show is for the Kurious about eCommerce and for those that want to get better at digital business. In today's show, I am going to look at the second part of our three-part series about finding great products to sell on your eCommerce website.
In last week’s show, I talked about the benefits of choosing a niche, how to find a great niche and how you should want to curate the best products for your niche market. But how do you curate the products? And why is research so important to that process? That's the question I answer in this week's show.
I use two stories from my own eCommerce experience, one about a product that tanked and one about a product that did super well. Research is the key difference between these two stories.
Here are the steps:
- Look at competitor websites. What new products have appeared on their site? What is starting to do well?
- Research the numbers. What are the estimated sales? What are the predicted profit margins?
- Curate the best products for your niche. Who else is selling them? What is the product reputation? What are customers saying about the products?
- Preset them well on your site. Can I write could product copy? Can I get good images? What about video? Other Assets? Can I hold them in stock? Can I get the products quickly to my customers?
- Will they add value, for my customers and for my company?

#5: Why you should choose a niche if you want great products to sell online
Tuesday Jul 23, 2019
Tuesday Jul 23, 2019
Matt addresses the issue many entrepreneurs are facing: lots of product that is failing to sell. In this podcast, we look at how choosing a niche is key to solving this problem.
Some of the common problems among websites are that they all sell similar products, which makes it highly competitive. Another is dull websites, imagery and products. Still, another is lack of transparency of some products.
Reasons to niche down:
- Makes it easy for your customers to know what you stand for
- Niching makes you a master of something and helps you create great content
- Niching around a passion means you are more than likely going to curate amazing products
- It’ll be much easier and cheaper to find your target audience
How to find your niche:
- Niche around your hobbies, or passions
- Niche around an opportunity
- Niche around a trend
- Niche around an existing product
So niche your site down, find the best products in that niche, and then make sure you create some great content around those products.
In next week’s show, we’re going to look at the whole idea of research and how to research great products in a niche.
